Create learning cards with the editor

Create a question and answer with text, selection answers, handwriting or drawings – in the web and app.

The screenshots and example illustrations show the German interface; the instructions and captions follow your selected language.

The pictures show real screenshots of the editor as well as supplementary example illustrations. They switch to your Light or Dark mode.

1. Create an card set

Open your flashcard sets and select “Create card set”. Enter the details of the set: name, language, description and category. Also check whether it should be private or public. Save the new set before adding cards. To create and edit, you need a connection to the service and the appropriate permission.

2. Classical: Question and Answer in Two Editors

Open card editing and choose “Text” for the answer. Write the question in the front editor and the answer in the back editor. You can format content and insert images. The editors sit side by side on large screens and one above the other on small screens.

3. Selection Answers with Checkboxes

On the answer page, select “Multiple Choice”. Enter the answer options and use the checkboxes to mark all correct answers. Wrong answers remain unmarked. Using the Add button, you can add more answers. The check marks define the solution that is tested during learning.

Multiple choice example: 2 and 3 are marked as prime numbers, 4 is not marked. Multiple choice example: 2 and 3 are marked as prime numbers, 4 is not marked.

4. Writing by hand

On the desired card page, select “Handwriting & Drawing” and open the drawing surface. Write with a pen or finger, for example a formula or a vocabulary. With “Apply” you return to the card editor. Then you save the card.

5. Use a drawing

In the same mode, you can draw a sketch, such as a right triangle with sides a, b and c. Combine a drawn card page with a typed question on the other side. Apply the drawing and save the card.

6. Import maps from Excel

  1. Open the tab "Import from Excel" in the card editing and download the template with "Download Example Excel".
  2. Fill in the template and keep the column headings. Each line of data corresponds to a flashcard. FrontHtml contains the question, BackHtml the text answer. Set ControlType to 1 for text cards, or 2 for multiple choice.
  3. With Multiple Choice, you use the answer and correct fields of the template. At least one completed response must be marked as correct. Text and selection cards may be present in the same file.
  4. Save the file as .xlsx and select it from “Select Excel file”. Support for up to 1,000 cards and 5 MB.

The file selection starts the import. The cards are attached to the existing set and the saving process is triggered. Check the feedback and then the card overview. In the event of a format error, the message helps to correct the affected line.

Re-importing the same file adds the cards again. Therefore, use only the lines that you want to newly take.

7. Create Learning Cards with AI from PDF

  1. Select the tab "With AI from document" and upload your PDF via "Select document". Word files in format are also supported .docx, each up to 15 MB. Images in Word files are not evaluated.
  2. Set the desired number of 1 to 50 cards and select the card type: "Text", "Multiple Choice" or "Mixed".
  3. Choose “Create” and wait until the suggestions appear. The creation requires a connection to the service and an available AI function.

Review and accept suggestions

Under “Review generated cards”, you can edit questions, answers and the correct multiple-choice options. Deselect unsuitable cards and compare the suggestions with your document. If a source page is shown, use it to check the original.

Then select “...take cards”. The selected cards are added to the set and the saving process is triggered. Check the feedback and the card overview. AI suggestions may contain errors; control them before learning.

8. Save and check

Save the card to the editor via the Save action. Then check both sides in the card overview and the options marked as correct when selecting answers. Repeat the procedure for more cards.

When changing between text and drawing, both remain intact during editing. However, the selected view is saved. Handwriting is preserved as a drawing and is not automatically converted into typed text.

For drawings and handwritten answers, for example, Stack learning: reveal the answer and compare it yourself. Writing mode requires a text answer for automatic checking.
